After lunch at a local restaurant you visit the Citadel of Saladin, the fortress built between 1176 and 1183 AD to defend Cairo from the Crusaders and later rebuilt by Muhammad Ali Pasha, whose mosque dominates the skyline. From there you tour Coptic Cairo: the Hanging Church and the Church of St George the Martyr, both built into the walls of the Roman Fort of Babylon, and the Church of Abu Serga, said to stand over the cave where the Holy Family sheltered.
