Private touring with your own English-speaking guide, with GBAO permits arranged.

Day 1: Dushanbe
Your guide meets you at the airport and the day is spent on a city tour of Dushanbe: Rudaki Park, the National Library, the Presidential Palace and Parliament, and the giant national flagpole – 165 m high. Visit the Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments and finish in the colourful bazaar.
Overnight: hotel, Dushanbe

Day 2: Dushanbe - Norak - Kalai Khum (B)
Drive past the Norak reservoir, the “Tajik Sea”, and over the Shuraba Pass (2,267 m) into the Pamirs. From here the road follows the Pyanj River, which forms the border with Afghanistan – the same mountains that drew Marco Polo and Xuanzang.
Overnight: Karon Palace Hotel, Kalai Khum

Day 3: Kalai Khum - Khorog (B)
Continue up the Pyanj valley to Khorog, a small town hemmed in by mountains where the Shokhdara and Gunt rivers meet the Pyanj. Along the way you meet Pamiri people, whose language and traditions differ from the rest of Tajikistan.
Overnight: Lal Hotel, Khorog

Day 4: Khorog - Kalai Khum (B)
A morning walking tour of Khorog, then return down the valley – the only road through mountains over 6,000 m. Stop in villages to meet local families, with Afghan stone villages and gardens visible across the river.
Overnight: Karon Palace Hotel, Kalai Khum

Day 5: Kalai Khum - Khoburubot Pass - Dushanbe (B)
Return to Dushanbe on the mountain road over the Khoburubot Pass (3,252 m), through river valleys and gorges with plenty of photo stops and small villages along the way.
Overnight: hotel, Dushanbe

Day 6: Dushanbe - Iskanderkul Lake - Dushanbe (B)
Cross the Anzob Pass (3,372 m) into the Fann Mountains to Iskanderkul (2,255 m), one of Central Asia’s most beautiful lakes. Walk along the shore and hike 40 minutes to a waterfall before returning to Dushanbe.
Overnight: hotel, Dushanbe

Day 7: Dushanbe - Departure (B)
Transfer to Dushanbe International Airport for your onward flight.
