Solomon Islands is a hidden paradise of the South Pacific archipelago, comprising of a vast group of 922 breathtaking tropical islands. Experience a culture, rich with traditional customs, art, dance and the iconic sound of the panpipe music of ‘Are Are’. Feel the spirit of adventure or simply relax and discover a culture with a welcoming smile.

The Western province is made up of 11 main islands, and has stunning aerial views of islands and lagoons, and the fabulous underwater world where the visibility for both the diver and snorkeller is so good. The area was once home to the head hunters and skull shrines can still be found.

Zipolo Habu Resort is located on Lola Island in Vona Vona Lagoon, about 20 min by scenic boat ride from Munda Airport. It is in a quintessential Island Paradise with a wide range of accommodation options to suit a variety of budgets and many activities in and around the resort including fishing, snorkelling and various excusions.  

Included Activities

  1. Skull Island Visit: A trip to nearby Skull Island to visit the shrine of the local warrior chiefs and get a taste of the unique past of the area. Duration around one hour. (A local custom fee payable at time of visit)
  2. Vona Vona Excursion: A 3 hour boat ride through the stunning Vona Vona Lagoon to the Blackett Straits and return via Noro and the Diamond Narrows. Includes a visit to the carving village of Boiboi.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    1. World War 2 Tour, half-day: The Solomon Islands played host to some of the fiercest battles of WW11 and many remnants of that era still exist today. Close by you can see, amongst other things, a fully intact US Tank, Japanese bunker systems, an underground clinic, 140mm shore battery guns and a sunken Japanese freighter (custom fees payable at sites)
    2. Mantaray Island: A full day on a stunningly beautiful deserted island with world class snorkelling, and fishing all included. 

Optional Activities (at additional cost) 

  • Rainforest River Trip (2 hours): Take a boat ride to one of the nearby tidal rivers that run through lowland rainforest and experience, firsthand, this unique environment – home to rare freshwater fish, exotic tropical birds and saltwater crocodiles
  • Kolohite Island: Spend the day snorkelling on your own deserted island, half or full day options available. 
  • Hura River and Sasavele village: A 40 minute boat ride to the Hura river for a scenic trip and also chances to spot crocodile lazing on the banks or logs. Just around the corner from Hura river is the wonderful Sasavele village where you can have a little visit with the community there (custome fee applies)
  • Surfing, snorkelling or sport fishing charters
