This safari will give you an opportunity to experience the scenery, nature and wildlife of Uganda with opportunities to interact with the people of Uganda. The safari starts with Kibale national park which is home to 13 primate species and a visit to Bigodi village to interact with different homesteads. It continues to Queen Elizabeth national park “medley of wonders” for a wide range of wildlife and beautiful scenery of crater lakes and the famous tree climbing lions of Ishasha. And then to the highlight of many people - the gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable national park. End the safari in Lake Mburo national park where you will have a relaxing nature walk.

DAY 1: WELCOME TO THE PEARL OF AFRICA
Your Uganda safari begins today with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport where you will be welcomed by a Kagera Safaris representative. You will be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe for check in and overnight.

DAY 2: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK | THE PRIMATE CAPITAL
After breakfast, we transfer to Kibale national park – the best safari destination for chimpanzee trekking. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and have photographic moments along the way as you drive through the countryside.

Visit the Etanda community experience for a time enjoying cultural experiences, organic local foods, games, music and dance. Later continue on the journey to Kibale national park and check in to your lodge.

DAY 3: KIBALE FOREST | ENCOUNTER THE CHIMPANZEES
Chimpanzees are said to share 98.7% of man’s DNA. The chimp trekking happens in the forest after a briefing from the ranger guide. The chimpanzee trek offers you at opportunity to view them in their natural habitat. After locating the chimpanzees, you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence after which you start your trek out of the forest.

In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi community – this was started by young people as a way to raise money to conserve the wetlands, create employment for youths and incomes for different homesteads. The swamp is home to primates like the mangabey, red tailed monkeys, and black & white Colobus monkeys and several bird species including the magnificent great Blue turaco. There are different activities and homestead to visit, the medicine man to learn about the different herbal medicines, a coffee experience, banana brewing and a basketry experience.

DAY 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK | WILDLIFE AND BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth which is known as a medley of wonders because of the many activities in this park. The drive to the park is through different crater lakes and views of the mountains of the moon. Have a stopover at the Rwenzori Sculptor for amazing art experience and maybe purchasing some for yourself. Have lunch and a relaxed evening.

DAY 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK | ENCOUNTER THE WILDLIFE
Start the day with a game drive in search of the many other wildlife like elephants, water bucks, kobs and the elusive leopard. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat ride on Kazinga Channel for opportunities to view different species of birds and other animals like hippos, crocodiles etc.

DAY 6: ISHASHA SECTOR | SEARCH FOR THE TREE CLIMBING LIONS
Ishasha is the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park and is home to the tree climbing lions. You will set off for Ishasha sector after breakfast where you will start with a game drive to search for the tree climbing lions.

Later depart to your lodge for check in and lunch. Depending on your interest, return to the park for an evening game drive.

DAY 7: BWINDI FOREST | THE HOME OF GORILLAS
Have a relaxed morning and leave for Bwindi impenetrable national park. The drive will take you through the beautiful terraced hills of Kigezi arriving at the lodge later that afternoon.

DAY 8: BWINDI FOREST | GORILLA TREKKING
The driver guide will transfer you to briefing point to join everyone else. You will receive briefing from the ranger guide and later be allocated a gorilla family and a ranger guide to lead you on your hike. Depending on the gorilla family allocated to you, start the hike from the briefing area or you might need to drive to the trail head. You have up to one hour in the presence of the gorillas once you locate them after which you will be asked to start the journey back. Consider hiring a porter to help with carrying your extra luggage and you will be giving back to the community.

DAY 9: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK | DISCOVER NATURE
Transfer to the tranquil Lake Mburo national park, the smallest of the savannah national parks in Uganda, enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way. Have a short stopover at the Igongo cultural museum after which you proceed to the park.

Depending on the weather and arrival time, you will have the nature walk today or the next day in the morning.

DAY 10: TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT | DEPARTURE
After breakfast, have a relaxed morning and leave for Entebbe international airport depending on your flight time.

Gorilla Permits:
Please note we are not able to hold Gorilla Permits provisionally. We are only able to book Gorilla Permits on receipt of full payment for them. Once booked, Gorilla Permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
