Cape Breton Island is on Canada's Atlantic coast. It is mostly hilly and forested. Cabot Trail Tour is perfect for those wanting to experience true Cape Breton culture through the eyes of a local. Our experienced local guides lead you on this 6-day tour to explore a healthy mix of iconic trails and experiences but also get off the beaten path to some hidden gems only a local can show you. Most of the hikes on this tour are on non-maintained trails or off-trail. Intermediate hiking experience is highly recommended.

Min Age: 16 (Under 18 requires parental consent)
Skill Level: Intermediate
Accommodation Style: Inn, B&B and Glamping Tent.

This tour may be combined with other visits to Hallifax or other parts of Canada. Currently four tours are scheduled for 2023:

DAY 1:
Pick up in Halifax at Westin Hotel and/or Halifax Airport and transfer to a short waterfall hike, a stop at Big Spruce Brewing and then the Inverary Resort for team briefing and dinner.

Hike difficulty: 2/5

DAY 2:
Breakfast at Inverary and transfer to activity one; morning kayaking tour with North River Kayak Tours. Lunch then transfers to afternoon activity; hiking Franey Mountain Trail the check into our accommodations in Cape North for the next two nights.

DAY 3:
Breakfast then off to hike Tenerife Peak. This hike is short and steep but well worth the push for the panoramic views of the entire Aspy bay. We’ll then make our way to Meat Cove for lunch and another hike up Meat Cove Mountain, another short but steep climb. Free time to explore to local beaches for the rest of the day.

DAY 4:
Breakfast then we hit the road to head south towards Margaree stopping off along the way for photo opportunities making a quick stop at one of the more iconic trails within the National Park: Skyline Trail. We’ll break for lunch in Cheticamp then check into our final accommodations at Live Life In Tents followed by and evening float or paddle on the Margaree River.

DAY 5:
Our final full day on Cape Breton will be one for the books! We’ll be taking you to one of our favorite hikes deep into the Margaree Wilderness Area to a 30m waterfall. This hike is mostly off trail but is well worth the push! Free time will after the hike followed by a beach dinner to wrap up the week and catch the sunset.

Supplement the hike with a guided river tour (SUP/Kayak) instead OR guided fly-fishing. *Additional fees required for fly fishing.

DAY 6:
Breakfast then Transfer back to Halifax.

Things to Know:
No sherpa like services will be provided.
There is a good chance that we will see moose, coyotes and other wildlife on this route as we will be in some of their prime habitats, but this is not guaranteed. We will provide you with a personal gear checklist and have a minimum requirement for some personal gear. All water-based activities will be inclusive of PFDs and any gear you may need.

Booking Terms
For this particular booking the following terms apply relating to cancellations and rebooking

• 50% Deposit is required to confirm the booking.
• Remaining balance due 28 Days before departure.
• Free Cancellation up to 28 days before tour date with the option of:
• Full refund
• Postpone to a future date without penalty
• Cancelations within 28 are subject to the following penalties:
• Cancellation between 28 and 14 days – 50% of total cost.
• Cancellation between 14 and 7 days – 75% of cost.
• Cancellation between 7 and day of departure – 100% of cost.
